Within REACH 1 Winter 2002 Yes Virginia, Santa Is Real! R REACHs New Career
Services Program See Mommy, Santa is real. Over 60 children living in REACH
housing had a chance to meet the real Santa and Mrs. Claus at
REACHs annual Holiday Party. Donated gifts from individuals
and businesses made this a truly special occasion for more than 200
people who attended the party. Each child received a toy and many
of the adults came away with prizes of Christmas trees, Blazers
tickets and a host of other goodies. The Annual Holiday Party gives people a chance to meet, listen to live music and eat great food while getting into the holiday spirit.
The holidays can be a tough time for people with low incomes,
especially families. With the help of local businesses and many volunteers, REACH is able to provide an evening of sharing and fun for our tenants. Oregon Health Sciences University employees and Willamette Athletic Club members donated gifts for children and adults. The Blazers gave REACH 100 tickets to raffle and
we had tickets to the Oregon Ballet, the Youth Philharmonic, the Miracle Theatre, and
OMSI. McKee Farms donated Christmas trees, Essential Oils donated perfumes and make
up and Safeway donated food used in our wonderful meal prepared by Ron Glanville. Holiday fun went beyond the party this year. Dots Caf
