The SMA Revolution E very year Families of SMA spon-
sors a conference to bring together
the leading SMA researchers and clinicians, companies and our family
members. This is the largest conference
in the world for those affected by SMA,
and also for those involved in providing
support and care for SMA patients. There is no other opportunity like this
for those affected by SMA. The
interactions between the
researchers and families at one
conference is extremely special. The
advice and knowledge gained from
meeting and learning from other
families and also the medical and
research experts in the field can have
a huge impact on the quality of life
for patients and their families. The main goals of the conference are: 1 To allow networking between researchers involved in and families affected by SMA; 2 To educate professionals on the latest research advancements;
3 To educate patients and families on the basics of the disease;
4 To provide updates to patients and families on the latest research and medical results. Boston provides us with a fantastic location to host this conference that really
can revolutionize how our families cope with this disease. The regional research
community of hospitals, research institutions and biotech companies is world
renown. The local FSMA New England Chapter is one of the strongest we have
in providing local community support and also in raising funds for research. We
look forward to seeing you in Boston! Conference Assistance
Program Through generous corporate spon-
sorships, Families of SMA is excited
to announce a Room Rate Assistance
Program for the upcoming 2008
FSMA Boston Conference. Families of SMA will be reducing
the hotel room rate for families as
follows: The room rate will be reduced from the current $195 per night to
$149 per night. This reduced rate will cover one room per family for three nights. Reduction will be applied as a credit to your hotel bill at the time
of check out. FSMA does not anticipate having to
turn any families away. However, if
we do have to limit the program,
FSMA will extend assistance on a
first registered basis, so please regis-
ter early. Please note: This assistance program
applies only to The Boston Park Plaza
Hotel, and to families only. No researchers
or professionals or other hotels will be
covered under this program. 2008 FSMA Family and Professional Conference June 19-22, 2008 | BOSTON PARK PLAZA HOTEL Boston, MA Special Conference Announcement DEAR friends www.curesma.org 2 Directions | Spring 2008 Mission Statement Families of SMA is the largest interna-
