on Childhood Obesity Several East Cooper Art Galleries will join forces on Friday, April 4 th , 2008 to bring attention to the childhood obesity epidemic. Owners of galleries in Mt.
Pleasant and Sullivan’s Island will team up the night before the big bridge run to
host the 2 nd annual “Art Walk Before the Run!” to raise awareness and money for www.louieskids.org , a national non-profit based in Charleston, SC that is tackling the problem of childhood obesity one child at a time. On Friday, April 4th 2008, from 5-8 p.m. the galleries, Accent Framing & Gallery, Karen’s Korner, The Painted Palm Gallery, Shem Creek Gallery, Steve Jordan Gallery, Seagull Gallery, Paul Silva’s-Expectations Gallery all of Mt.
Pleasant, and Sandpiper Gallery on Sullivan’s Island; will each host an open
house featuring local artists’ work and an auction of item with the proceeds of the auction as well as 10% of the evenings sales going back to Louie’s Kids, which helps obese children from low-income families. Lynn Salkeld, owner of Accent Framing and Gallery in the Bi-Lo Shopping Center located at 1440 Ben Sawyer Blvd. said, “Each of the gallery owners is
thrilled to be able to host this important evening for such a terrific cause. The art community East of the Cooper is as strong as anywhere in Charleston and we’re
all devoted to great causes like Louie’s Kids. I hope people will come out to any one, or all of these galleries that evening and experience the uniqueness of each of our galleries, support local artists as well as support this amazing organization,”
