Register each card separately. It takes just a
few minutes to activate and you can protect
your card when you make online purchases. Credit Card Scam Alert You can’t be too careful when it comes to
protecting your credit card from fraud. In
a recent scam alert, the Credit Union was
informed that consumers are being called
by someone claiming to be from the security
department of their credit card company.
The perpetrator claims he is checking into
suspicious activity on the account and
proceeds to tell the consumer that a purchase
has been made on the card such as a $1,200
flat screen TV from Best Buy. When the consumer says he did not make the
purchase, the scammer says he will investigate
it further and provides a confirmation number.
He then asks for the consumer to verify the
three numbers on the back of their card. This
is a case where the scammer may already
have your address and card number and by
providing him the three digits on the back, this
enables charges to be made on your card. Don’t fall victim to these clever scams.
