TC3 Pocket Inventory System Interfacing to Great Plains Fixed Assets Presented by: Marty Christofferson, TC3 Overview Hardware Compaq Ipaq 3950 Pocket PC (PDA) Symbol sps-3000 Barcode Scanner Sled PC that the Ipaq uses to synchronize Software SprintDb Pro Access like database program Symbol Barcode Scanner utilities (Scan Wedge) Pocket Access & ActiveSync How Do You Use It - 1 Your Ipaq slides into the Symbol Scanner Sled The sled provides the laser beam to scan barcodes The Ipaq acts as the computer that collects the data Turn on the scanner Click the Start button, programs, scanner, ScanWedge. FireUp the PocketInventory app Click the Start button, SprintDB Pro, Database, Open Database, PocketInv.cdb the Main Form should open automatically. How Do You Use It - 2 This Form is used to break
the functions down to the
workflow of a person who
would be out in the field
taking scanning inventory
barcodes. How Do You Use It - 3 This Form is used to collect
the user info. Basically is
used once per session. How Do You Use It - 4 This Form is used to scan
the barcode for the
room/location of your
assets. You would scan the
barcode for the room. Then
go to the asset form to scan
all the assets in that room. How Do You Use It - 5 This Form is used to scan
each asset in the
room/location. Behind the
scenes the userid, location,
and date are added to each
assetid and saved in a table
that will be synced with an
Access table on your PC. How Did We Build It - 1 Step 1: Load Software Symbol Scanner Drivers SprintDB Pro Step 2: Develop table(s) in Access on your PC Note: Make sure you have a primary key otherwise you will
not be able to sync with the Pocket PC Step 3: Setup ActiveSync to sync Pocket Access tables
specify your tables. This will copy tables from your .mdb to
your Pocket PC as a .cdb table. It also copies records from
the Pocket PC to the Access table on your PC. How Did We Build It - 2 Step 4: The next step is to build the forms in the Pocket PC
Database application, SprintDB Pro. Prior to moving to the
next step you really need to think about the design of your
system. Step 5: Database, Open Opens the database you created
via Access .cdb file. Step 6: You will see 4 tabs, Favorites, Table, Form, and
Query. Step 7: Click on the Form Tab, then select new to create a
